CARDBOARD BOXES EQUALS HOURS OF FUN FOR GOLDENDOODLE PUPS!!!

FIRSTLY my apologies for a complete lack of blog posts…

What with nursing Millie the Goldendoodle…

And raising 9 practically orphaned little Goldendoodle puppies…

Things have been you might say a little “busy” lol…

And more than a little chaotic – with a semblance of order – mostly ha ha…

Millie was due at the vets for her operation on Tuesday morning…

Sadly she still had too much milk and this was postponed until Thursday…

This of course means even longer away from her babies…

However she sailed through the operation…

The vet had to make the hole larger in order to join together the wound…

She came home groggy but waggy tailed late evening…

The veterinary nurses really didn’t want her to leave – they adore her lol…

She’s a little woozy now – still on strong painkillers – tablets to dry her milk up and antibiotics…

It will be some time yet before she is well enough to see her puppies…

She still cries when she hears them and is pretty depressed if truth be told…

Time is a great healer and we’re all sad she’s missed so much and been in so much pain and discomfort…

But she really is a great dog – a bloody superstar and we love her dearly…

OK to the little Goldendoodle Puppy tribe – the ‘Doodle puppies are doing extremely well…

We are talking an amazing growth spurt in the last week…

They are now more adventurous – sleep less during the day and play with a lot more energy (lol)…

(those teeth are sharp be warned !!!)

They are absolutely eating us out of house and home at the moment lol…

I seem to be at PETS AT HOME daily…

Pity they didn’t have a loyalty card – I’d be quids in ha ha…

Millie’s Dad says they must be crossed with Donkeys judging by the size of their poo’s lol…

They seem to play fight constantly and the pecking order changes by the minute !!!

Of them all tiny little Pinky – now Tillly – is by far the roughest lol…

She has to be I guess being so tiny compared to the others…

Lulu (White) and little Lilly (Yellow) are not far behind…

Meanwhile the big lads Max and Murphy (Blue and Aqua) are facing “Girl Power” lol…

Our old fave Digby (Orange) has over gone a complete sea change…

We haven’t heard him squawk for an age – but man does he like the girls !!!

He always seems to be snuggling up to Cookie (Purple) and Molly (Red)…

Those two girls are growing into beautiful looking ‘Doodles – Molly is now a little fusspot !!!

Boy does she come running for the cuddles !!!

Mazsola (Lilac) is the most daring – she is fearless !!!

Whatever happens or is introduced into the puppy pad – she’s in first…

She races around the room yapping and crashing into things…

Mostly other ‘Doodles lol…

They really are a fantastic litter of puppies…

And they really have decided we are mom and dad doodle lol…

It’s amazing to see them come running like a little herd of geese circling us until the food is put down…

And I’m very pleased at how sensible they are at meal times…

There’s hardly any squabbling – the odd little accident – but they have very good manners for almost 5 week old pups…

They are still on four meals of puppy kibble (Science Plan) per day – and a few Lactol (milk substitute) breaks…

That still remains the highlight of their day !!!

Feeding times are around midnight (milk) 4am (kibble) 8am (kibble) 11am (milk)…

3pm (kibble) 8pm (milky kibble) with water in between…

Those are approximate times and it does vary lol…

We are in and out of their room regularly clearing up great piles and puddles lol…

So as you can see it’s pretty much round the clock stuff lol…

Hard but about as rewarding as it can get !!!

Our neighbours have been fantastic and the whole street brings us newspapers…

And of course get to cuddle the little ‘doodles – one way to meet the neighbours ha ha…

As the ‘doods have gotten bigger we’ve had them loose in the garden – MADNESS !!!

(the vet said it would be fine in the shade)

Whilst cleaning their room we pop them into the puppy pen on the lawn…

They are not too happy about the pen – and tend to squawk the place down lol…

However once we open the little gate they charge out and chase each other and us around the lawn…

It’s just so cute – and total mayhem – we will video it this weekend I promise…

She’s gone through hell bless her heart…

She was an absolutely fantastic mom to those little guys when she was able…

I truly hope we have done her proud…

BIG post today!!!

Involving a puppy revolt and worming lol…

Ok if you’re sitting comfortably I’ll begin lol…

I arrived home from work mid morning eager to see Millie and the pups…

As I walked into the lounge I saw Millie lying on the floor panting heavily…

Next to her covered in sweat and very dishevelled was her dad…

For a split second I thought something terrible had happened…

But no…

Lilac Puppy had decided to become head of the “Puppy Power Mafia”…



LILAC PUPPY PLOTS HER NEXT MOVE

At least that’s how Millie’s dad described it lol…

OK here’s how the story goes…

The routine after I leave for work is the whelping box is thoroughly cleaned out…

First the pups are popped into a laundry basket – giving Millie time to give them all a good clean…

The box is swept and cleaned with fresh bedding and then the cuddly toys added…

Once the pups are popped back into the box Millie goes in to rearrange everything to her liking…

She gives the Goldendoodle puppies a quick feed – or a splash and dash as we call it lol…

They then settle down for a good hours sleep – having been fed pretty much right through from 3am…

Millie will then eat a hearty breakfast before settling down for a well earned sleep…

However this particular morning Lilac Puppy was having none of it…

She had squawked whilst in the laundry basket – which is not unusual for any of them…

However once Millie had sorted them all out and the 8 puppies were sleeping…

Lilac Pup turned into rabble rouser…

She had walked up to each group of pups squawked loudly in their face before standing on them…

Once that group was awake and squealing through tiredness – she’d move onto the next…



ORANGE PUPPY MAKES A BRAVE BID FOR FREEDOM

Despite Millie’s and my partners best efforts – this went on for a good 2 hours…

With the decibel levels rising – considerably…

Removing Lilac Pup and placing her on a soft vets bed with Millie was the obvious ploy…

However – each time she fell asleep at the nipple and was placed back in the box – it began again…

After numerous attempts at calming them Millie and her dad left them to get on with it by going into the garden…

No joy lol – within 10 minutes the noise was deafening and Millie had raced back inside frantic…

You guessed it Lilac Pup had decided if she wasn’t getting her “Puppy Rights…” then it was a “dirty protest…”

8 beautiful sleepy yawning Goldendoodle puppies covered once again in gooey puppy poop…

Luckily (lol) Millie’s dad has experienced this before so the two of them set about cleaning up the mess…

Lilac Pup was the only one not touched by the goop ha ha…

Once all back in the box and settled Millie’s dad cuddled Lilac Whine (as he has now called her lol)…

Until she slept like a baby…

On my return they were all sleeping peacefully out for the count …

My timing is and has been immaculate – I miss all the action ha ha…



THE ‘DOODLE TRIBE GATHERS STRENGTH FOR THE NEXT REVOLUTION

Funnily enough I watched quietly this morning as Millie’s dad fussed over them…

Little Lilac Pup was the first to stumble over to sniff his fingers before licking his arm gently…

I think they’re big friends really ha ha…

On asking him if he had taken any photos or footage of the chaos – he just gave me a wry smile…

I guess the answer’s no ha ha…

OK back to the real ‘Doodle world…

Millie had her final check up at the vets yesterday…

The mastitis is pretty much cleared up and he’s very pleased with her progress…

She has also gained weight – which is fantastic news given the amount of energy she’s expelling…

RAISING A LITTER OF GOLDENDOODLE PUPPIES IS A TIRING BUSINESS

We’re feeding her on high protein puppy food and goats milk (watered down)…

With boiled fresh mince or chicken breast and scrambled eggs…

We also put a couple of spoons of glucose in her water…

Nice diet ha ha…

Whilst at the vet I also picked up the puppies worming medication…

I arrived back with the syringes of worm medicine and asked Millie’s dad to help…

He held the pups as I squirted the medicine into their mouths…



WORMING THE PUPPIES – MUCH EASIER WHEN THEY’RE ASLEEP !!!

Yes you guessed it – after a day covered in puppy poo and wee…

His day ended covered head to toe in worm medicine…

Topped off of course with the odd dribble of puppy piddle lol…

None of the pups seemed any worse for wear from their dose…

And this morning I was able to administer the medicine single handedly – that’s a woman for you !!!

The pups take the meds for three days and they all have little booklets in which I have recorded it…

I have the morning off so my partner was able to have a bit of a lie in…

I have absolutely adored this precious time with my Millie and the pups…

Watching them feed be cleaned and play has been an absolute joy…

It is going to be a terrible wrench when we have to say goodbye…

But hey that’s a long way away yet – and I really must enjoy the moment…

The new puppy pen arrives today – hopefully – so that’s my plan this morning…

Thanks again for all your emails phone calls and messages – I love hearing from you all…

COOL VIDEO EFFECTS HA HA

MY apologies if you were expecting individual close ups of the pups today…

Time I’m afraid has been against me – I shall get onto it later today I promise…

And the new batch of coloured collars has arrived – so they’ll look all smart for their close ups !!!

The fantastic news is a few of the puppies have their eyes partly open !!!

It’s usually between 8 to 12 days – so they are well on course…

They are all gaining weight at an amazing rate…




SLEEPY DOODLE PUPPIES IN THE SUNSHINE




To give Millie a bit of a break last night – and after cleaning her nipples which are much better…

We brought her beloved bed into the lounge…

She was over the moon and rolled over in it like a frisky puppy…

We then brought two pups at a time to her…

Without the chaos of the nest she was able to give each special attention…

They all had a fantastic feed and very thorough top and tail…

Their squawks and squeaks were a delight as Millie washed them all over…

OK I have to dash and I promise I shall have the close ups tomorrow…

AS you can see and hear (lol) from the video…

The “DOODS” have not only found their collective voices…

But have also began to take those first real steps!!!

Given the World Cup is on constantly in our house…

At least the little doods squawks and squeaks drowns out that awful vuvuzela buzz lol…

As for taking their first real steps – it can be a tiring business…

MOTHER AND DAUGHTER SHARE A TRULY TENDER MOMENT

Purple was the first little Goldendoodle puppy to try to stand…

After all she was also the first to scream for her mum (boy she has a voice ha ha)…

And that has enabled her to get the “drop” on the others when it comes to feeding…

As you can see as soon as Millie arrives in the nest – they go berserk…

As the day wore on they all began standing – to varying degrees of success !!!

This morning they were all absolutely worn out with the exercise and enjoyed a leisurely breakfast with mom…




We have of course being weighed the little ‘doodles daily…

And once again I’m delighted to sat they are all thriving – and couldn’t be in better health…

Last week for instance when we changed their bedding we were using a tiny basket…

Yesterday my partner had to use a full sized laundry basket to fit them all in !!!

A BASKETFUL OF DOODLE PUPPIES !!!

Millie had another check up at the vet yesterday…

Being a former nurse I noticed her swollen nipple was looking a little sore…

The swelling had gone down considerably – but the skin around it was tender and red…

It was probably caused by tiny little doodle feet – the vet took a look and gave her the all clear…

However she has been given more antibiotics to keep it under control…

She shows no sign of discomfort and the pups have done her proud clearing it out !!!

OK a little later today we shall be taking individual portrait photographs of the Goldendoodle pups…

And we shall post them tomorrow so you can all get a clearer look at the little darlings…

Her daddy is also working on – of all things – a Facebook application !!!

My partner got the idea after the photo of Millie the Goldendoodle in her England flag was tagged on Facebook…

Quite a few people are using that photo – some even as their profile photo…

MILLIE WEARING THE ENGLAND WORLD CUP FLAG ON FACEBOOK

The photo has appeared on the official English FA page and Carlsberg for England !!!

And best news of all the OFFICIAL FA BACK THE BID 2018 (the World Cup In England) want the original photo !!!

We’re all pleased but Millie’s dad is ecstatic – he says she really is the World Cup Goldendoodle haha…

He thinks we should get Millie and agent – good Lord what next !!!

THE PROUD MUM AND HER LITTER OF CUTE GOLDENDOODLE PUPPIES

POOR little Millie the Goldendoodle has a nasty case of mastitis…

It all happened so quickly…

One minute she was feeding happily and the next she became quite poorly…

She had a high temperature and became very “spacey…”

She simply couldn’t lie down – but still allowed the puppies to feed by sitting upright…

A quick examination showed one of her teats was swollen and inflamed…

Luckily the pups had fed well – were sleeping soundly and we rushed Millie to the vets…

He was fantastic and agreed it was indeed mastitis…

He gave her two injections (both safe for the puppy milk) – antibiotic and a pain killer…

Within minutes Millie was much happier…

Infact she pulled us out of the surgery to the car – such was her haste to get home !!!




CHECKING MILLIE IS NOT IN TOO MUCH DISCOMFORT WHILST NURSING HER PUPPIES

On her return she immediately checked on the babies…

Before lying down gingerly and falling asleep for a good 3/4 of an hour…

It was the longest sleep she’s had since the puppies were born…

Once awake I checked her sore teat again and gently massaged it with olive oil…

In fact I gave all of her nipples a good gentle clean…

Millie seemed to really enjoy the close attention and lay happily on her back…

The swelling had gone down considerably and Millie was more than happy to return to her whelping box…

The puppies on the other hand seemed none to concerned at mums return !!!

They had all curled up together and were all snoring in a deep contended full belly sleep…

Millie was a little miffed and eventually began licking and nosing them to wake.,..

It was a great relief to us all that the puppies immediately “latched on” and fed happily…

The vet had recommended we allowed the pups to suckle the swollen teat…

This would both gauge Millie’s pain level – and of course help bring down the inflammation…

We rotated the aggressive and gentle feeders and was delighted to see Millie showed no discomfort…




“PINKY” ONE OF THE MORE GENTLE PUPPIES HELPING TO NURSE HER MUM

The great news is Millie stayed with the puppies all night…

And I can assure you all they have gorged themselves on her milk !!!

My partner stayed with them and says it was the most peaceful night they’ve had…

I managed to sleep a little longer despite my concerns…

As soon as I came down this morning I coaxed Millie on her back to check her nipples…

I am so relieved to say the swelling has almost completely gone !!!

I have weighed all the puppies and am delighted to say they have all gained weight considerably…

They are all feisty squeaky and none the worse for yesterdays dramas…

And as you can see all happy content and coming on amazingly well…

WHAT a fantastic weekend for a ‘Doodle Meet !!!

Gin clear skies – hot sunshine – great people – tons of ‘doodle’s and plenty of shade !!!

And an absolutely beautiful camp site set in the stunning Kingsbury Water Park…

It was fantastic to put faces to so many names from Doodle Mania – the best ‘doodle owner forum on line…

Unlike the ‘Doodle Meet we attended last year this time we were just day visitors…

Millie is just two weeks away from giving birth to her litter of Goldendoodle puppies…

So we felt all the excitement might be too much for her…

However after her initial thrill at seeing all her mates and of course Biddy her best buddy…




BIDDY AND MILLIE BEST MATES SINCE PUPPIES


She soon settled and seemed to really enjoy herself…

Millie was so happy to see Biddy’s mum and dad Paddy and Lynn…

She jumped up and licked Lynn to pieces !!!

As for Paddy – Millie absolutely loves him to bits – as far as Millie is concerned he’s her second dad !!!



PADDY IN A TANGLE WITH SO MANY GOLDENDOODLES AROUND !!!


We all have to thank Julie for the lovely bandanna she made for ALL the ‘doodles !!!

Pink for the girls and blue for the boys !!!

Doodle Mania are tireless in their efforts to raise cash for dog/pet charities…

This event was predominantly to raise funds for the incredible Hounds For Heroes…

They train and provide assistance dogs to both members of the armed forces…

And civilian emergency services who have been injured serving their country…

It’s a registered charity and well worth your support…




PLEASE GIVE GENEROUSLY TO HOUNDS FOR HEROES

We totally endorse this amazing charity and suggest either a donation however big or small…

Or to buy a set of their superb and very trendy “dog tags”…

Millie has a set and loves them !!!

OK back to the ‘Doodle Meet…

Despite the heat Millie was happy to sit in the shade and enjoy all the attention…



GOLDENDOODLES ENJOYING THE SHADE !!!


And there was lots of it – and ice cream thanks to Julie and cold drinks thanks to Lynn !!!

Everybody it seemed wanted to rub Millie’s big fat tummy !!!

The puppies are now moving and it was a joy to see people’s – especially the children’s – smiles when they felt a tiny wriggle…

We were very pleased to meet a family who intend to have one of Millie’s Godlendoodle puppies…

Jane – Kevin and children had driven up from Surrey and immediately loved being fussed by so many different ‘Doodles !!!

Millie was absolutely charming and took to the children immediately…

Especially Felicity whom Millie absolutely idolized…



MILLIE THE GOLDENDOODLE AND FELICITY

They are indeed a lovely family and the lucky Goldendoodle puppy will have a fantastic life with them…

They live very close to Doodle Mania owners Rob and Caroline…

And have already researched the nearest ‘Doodle Meet and plan to get the new pup at the first one they can!!!

Doodle Mania is a fantastic forum for all ‘doodle types – and you’re sure to get superb advice and make amazing friends – so pop along !!!

Everyone had arrived by around 3pm and were ready for the ‘doodle walk…

Millie was extremely anxious to get going…

And being the “princess” she is…

Just had to lead the way…

We had to chuckle at her wriggly bottom – walking just like a pregnant duck haha…

Kevin took her lead and Millie was very well behaved – so much so each of the children held the lead for a while…

Once near the water we let her and the others off the leads and splish splash Millie and Biddy were in !!!

Typically my camera went on the blink so sadly no more photos – suffice it to say a few people got splashed and very wet…

A pack of wet ‘doodles shaking off the water has that effect – a much needed cold shower you could say haha…

We decided to cut the walk short to give Millie a breather…

Of course we got lost going back (it’s a beautiful place peppered with lakes – canals and woodland paths)…

And unbelievably ended up walking further than all the others !!!

Millie managed admirably – but boy was she ready for a big cold drink !!!

We went home pleasantly tired and very very happy…

Millie however slept the sleep of the just – we could hear her contented snores through the night!!!

THREE WEEKS TO GO UNTIL MILLIE GIVES BIRTH TO GOLDENDOODLE PUPPIES!!!


Just a quick update on Millie the Goldendoodle’s pregnancy…

We have received tons of enquiries for one of her puppies…

And I have spoken to everyone so far…

It’s been a pleasure to meet so many lovely kind real “dog people” lol…

And so far everyone has the most perfect loving home to offer…

So a big thank you from me and a loving lick from Millie…

Those of you who have now met her know she really does love to lick you haha…

She has always been a loving gentle cuddly dog…

She is what we call a “floopy little girl” haha…

As in soft – gentle – loving and very much in cuddles…

Being in pup has made it more so – and I have to say I love cuddling her…

That’s the beauty of the Goldendoodle breed…

They are mad as hatters and nuts to play with…

They love long walks – free runs and playing…



GOLDENDOODLES LOVE EXERCISE!!! (taken moments after mating Millie the Goldendoodle)

However they’re just as happy lying on their backs snoring…



MILLIE THE GOLDENDOODLE SNORING


A proper mix of boundless energy and couch potato haha…

Millie the Goldendoodle is now a little over three weeks away for giving birth to her litter…

To say I’m nervous and excited is an understatement…

We’ve decided on the dining room as the “nursery”…

It’s warm and quiet and plenty of space…

I have got a whelping kit – complete with stethoscope lol…

Plenty of newspapers – absorbent puppy pads and blankets…

Millie is in great health and everything looks good for the big day…

The vet would not tell us how many pups she was expecting…

But the list of people wanting one of Millie’s puppies is growing…

Part of me feels awful for those at the end of the queue…

But Mother Nature will decide how many Goldendoodle puppies Millie has…

And there’s not much more I can do about that haha…

SO MANY TOYS FOR A GOLDENDOODLE TO PLAY WITH BUT OH SO TIRING

But we mums know only too well just how tiring pregnancy can be lol…

We have began increasing her food a little…

However the little minx will not eat her kibble…

This is worrying as she needs the nutrients…

However my partner had a brainwave – not that he has many haha…

Millie absolutely adores tripe sticks – uggh the smell…

So he actually grated tripe stick shavings into her kibble!!!

She of course wolfed them down haha…

OK that’ll do for now – I’m off to give Millie a shower and blow dry…
