THE puppies are growing so very fast and so are their appetites…

Millie can no longer just operate a “splash and dash” feeding regime…

She’s still being amazing and feeding them all regularly…

And we are helping by bringing her three at a time on a mat in the lounge…

She and indeed they like this attention and all the pups get a good feed…

But they are hungry demanding puppies and they need to feed almost 50% of the time…

So it might be a little early in regards to the puppy rule book (lol)…

But we have gradually begun the first steps towards weaning…

Not I hasten to add with anything other than mom’s milk substitute – Lactol Gold…

I made the first batch and tried to feed using a small tiny baby bottle…

But they were having none of it lol…

Switching to a syringe ( no needle ha ha) has had the desired effect…



LAPPING INSTINCTS HAVE TRULY KICKED IN NOW

And the little Goldendoodle puppies are taking at least 5 ml a feed !!!

It’s doing them the power of good – giving Millie a rest – and I love it…

There’s something quite magical about hand feeding a little puppy…

Their lapping instincts have really kicked in now…

I fill the syringe to 5 ml and gently drizzle onto their tongues…

They fix on and begin lapping – “Pinky” was the first and she does it quite beautifully…

Once they are full each pup is given to Millie who gives them a long top and tail…

Before they flop back into the nest and sleep it off…

Millie is always close by keeping an eye on the activities – and also waiting to empty the jug !!!

As you can see form the first video – they are all in good voice…

Whitey and Orange puppy have become the most vocal…

In full flow Orange pup sounds like an exotic bird or monkey lol…

We have been asked a couple of times for individual photos of the pups…

I can honestly say we are working on it – but they never seem to stand still for a minute lol…

We have some – but I think it might be best to do a short movie of them wandering around…

I got the idea after the stunning Red Puppy went for an explore…

I’m back at work on Monday (long day aaargh) so I’ll leave it to Millie’s Dad…

We had visitors here yesterday…

A mum and daughter who are on the puppy list visited to catch a glimpse of the babies…

As you would expect they absolutely loved playing with them…

They return along with the rest of the families next weekend to make final puppy choices…

They are going to have an almost impossible job – they are all GORGEOUS !!!

This has been an absolutely amazing experience…

The hard work and lack of sleep is more than worth it…

It seems each minute the puppies develop and something new happens…

We are absolutely loving it…

Millie has truly made a fantastic mum…

We are both so very very proud of our little girl…

Last night was the first they all slept through…

Luckily for me I was on “Doodle Duty !!!”

After a great night’s sleep Millie and I have a new spring in our steps…

She’s going to need it as the little ‘doods are very active today!!!

Not quite as dramatic as it sounds honest ha ha…

It simply means getting them used to the sights and sounds of a normal household…

For instance when Millie arrived with us every time the hoover would be brought out…

She’d run and hide – we’d find her quivering like a nervous wreck…

It took a long time to desensitize her – the same with the hair dryer for instance…

And as you can see from the video – the ‘Doodle Pups seem unperturbed by the noisy hoover…

However this is an exercise we shall repeat daily…

And once they’ve moved into the dining room and are more mobile and inquisitive…

Very many more experiences will be introduced…

After all no one wants a timid puppy lol…

If anyone on the puppy waiting list wants any special noises played…

( the mind boggles ha ha)…

As an aside – when the hoover was turned on – Millie legged it !!!

So much for her conditioning lol – never work with dogs or kids ha ha…



RED SHOWS WHO IS PUPPY PACK LEADER


The puppy pack is now really starting to show it’s pecking order…

Red pup – a sweet faced girl who looks like a lion cub – has emerged as pack leader…

She’s quietly assertive and oozes an almost regal air…

The other pups are drawn to her when tired and try to cuddle with her…

However she prefers to be just ever so slightly detached…

And when we or Millie approaches – she’s the first yapping and growling…

She might think she’s a “tough little madam” – but the yap usually makes her fall over lol…

We call her the little princess – boy does she grumble if the bed isn’t just right…



THE DOODLE PUPS PLAY FIGHTING

Millie had a lovely time yesterday after her sleepless night…

The puppies were also “zonked out” and slept like angels…

This allowed Millie to get some well earned rest…

Which gave her a new spring in her step which she needed…

As another family on the waiting list brought their three children to meet the ‘doodles…

Millie adores children and was delighted to get so much fuss…

The two boys even played football with her outside !!!

They are a lovely family with an amazing house in the country…

One of the pups was drawn to them and they to him…

As they are waiting for the “last boy” – they have their fingers crossed…

We have been so lucky with the puppy families – they are all going to have great lives…




MILLIE LOOKING ABSOLUTELY STUNNING AS SHE FEEDS HER PUPS


She’s coping amazingly well – given the heat and the demands on her…

The mastitis has cleared up and the swelling has gone down…

However the puppy’s nails are like little needles…

Poor Millie has hundreds of tiny scratch marks over her belly and nipples…

They haven’t broken the skin – but I was concerned and decided to trim their nails…

So last night once they’d been fed I took each pup and gave them a pedicure lol…



GOLDENDOODLE PUPPY NAIL CARE


Given this was a new and not very pleasant experience for the pups…

They were remarkably brave – and seemed to enjoyed it…

All sitting very still for a good couple of minutes…

Of course 8 of the little darling managed to piddle on me – another trip to the dry cleaners lol…

I just used child sized nail clippers and an emery board…

I feel a new career coming on – Puppy Pedicures R Us ha ha….



A MILK SHAKE AND A PEDICURE – BLISS !!!


My carpenter friend can’t make it until Monday…

So we shan’t be moving the tribe until after the weekend…

I’m secretly pleased as being at work I don’t get to see enough of them…

I’m so looking forward to this weekend with them – they change almost by the hour…

And I so want to soak up every single drop of joy they’re bringing…

OK not much left to say other than please keep the emails and messages coming !!!

And have a great weekend – it’s going to be HOT – I might just get Millie a paddling pool lol…

BEST VIEWED WHILST HUMMING THE THEME FROM THE GREAT ESCAPE

They really did make a bid for freedom – throughout most of the night too…

And whenever Millie’s Dad blocked it off – Millie would cry as she couldn’t get to them…

Letting her stay in the box caused her to overheat so it was a no win situation…

We’re all bleary eyed this morning to say the least lol…

I was downstairs at 3.30am letting her out…

We know the move to the dining room will offer them all more freedom…

However I’m pretty sure the puppy pen is designed for baby giraffes ha ha…

My metric conversion might have been a little out lol…



IF ANYONE NEEDS A BABY GIRAFFE PEN DO LET ME KNOW


Ah well it will fit a purpose – and I have a friend who’s a carpenter popping round…

We’d like him to build some kind of safe enclosure in the dining room…

OK what else is happening in the ‘doodle tribe world..?

Like most of England my partner was watching the crucial England World Cup game…

He had absolutely made sure the little pups were full to the brim of mom’s milk…

Millie had been fed and all were sleeping soundly in time for kick off…

“I reckon they’ll sleep for most of the game…” he’d said confidently…

How sweet and how naive’ men can be ha ha…

You guessed it – just before the referee blew his whistle to kick off – the pups er kicked off !!!

You have to laugh – sorry but you do lol…



Luckily he was able to pause the game – supervise the feeding frenzy – settle Millie and open a cold one…

The good news of course is England won – the bad – Germany…

Add that to a tribe of baby ‘doodles and my man will be a nervous wreck come Sunday!!!

We had a visit from a lovely family yesterday evening…

This was the one chance they could get to see the pups…

Such is the list they are waiting for the last little girl…

Tamas – the dad – spotted his favourite and really hopes she’s the one left !!!

He will just have to keep his fingers crossed as she is indeed a cutie pie…



NOT RABIES JUST WORMING MEDICINE LOL !!!!


I gave the pups their last splurge of worming medicine today…

Most of them took it quite calmly…

Little Orange Pup (as in collar lol) – wasn’t so keen…

I couldn’t grab the camera – but I swear she said “YUK!!!”

OK I shall love and leave you – a zillion things to do…

And I can hear Purple Pup plotting a tunnel dig ha ha…

Involving a puppy revolt and worming lol…

Ok if you’re sitting comfortably I’ll begin lol…

I arrived home from work mid morning eager to see Millie and the pups…

As I walked into the lounge I saw Millie lying on the floor panting heavily…

Next to her covered in sweat and very dishevelled was her dad…

For a split second I thought something terrible had happened…

But no…

Lilac Puppy had decided to become head of the “Puppy Power Mafia”…



LILAC PUPPY PLOTS HER NEXT MOVE

At least that’s how Millie’s dad described it lol…

OK here’s how the story goes…

The routine after I leave for work is the whelping box is thoroughly cleaned out…

First the pups are popped into a laundry basket – giving Millie time to give them all a good clean…

The box is swept and cleaned with fresh bedding and then the cuddly toys added…

Once the pups are popped back into the box Millie goes in to rearrange everything to her liking…

She gives the Goldendoodle puppies a quick feed – or a splash and dash as we call it lol…

They then settle down for a good hours sleep – having been fed pretty much right through from 3am…

Millie will then eat a hearty breakfast before settling down for a well earned sleep…

However this particular morning Lilac Puppy was having none of it…

She had squawked whilst in the laundry basket – which is not unusual for any of them…

However once Millie had sorted them all out and the 8 puppies were sleeping…

Lilac Pup turned into rabble rouser…

She had walked up to each group of pups squawked loudly in their face before standing on them…

Once that group was awake and squealing through tiredness – she’d move onto the next…



ORANGE PUPPY MAKES A BRAVE BID FOR FREEDOM

Despite Millie’s and my partners best efforts – this went on for a good 2 hours…

With the decibel levels rising – considerably…

Removing Lilac Pup and placing her on a soft vets bed with Millie was the obvious ploy…

However – each time she fell asleep at the nipple and was placed back in the box – it began again…

After numerous attempts at calming them Millie and her dad left them to get on with it by going into the garden…

No joy lol – within 10 minutes the noise was deafening and Millie had raced back inside frantic…

You guessed it Lilac Pup had decided if she wasn’t getting her “Puppy Rights…” then it was a “dirty protest…”

8 beautiful sleepy yawning Goldendoodle puppies covered once again in gooey puppy poop…

Luckily (lol) Millie’s dad has experienced this before so the two of them set about cleaning up the mess…

Lilac Pup was the only one not touched by the goop ha ha…

Once all back in the box and settled Millie’s dad cuddled Lilac Whine (as he has now called her lol)…

Until she slept like a baby…

On my return they were all sleeping peacefully out for the count …

My timing is and has been immaculate – I miss all the action ha ha…



THE ‘DOODLE TRIBE GATHERS STRENGTH FOR THE NEXT REVOLUTION

Funnily enough I watched quietly this morning as Millie’s dad fussed over them…

Little Lilac Pup was the first to stumble over to sniff his fingers before licking his arm gently…

I think they’re big friends really ha ha…

On asking him if he had taken any photos or footage of the chaos – he just gave me a wry smile…

I guess the answer’s no ha ha…

OK back to the real ‘Doodle world…

Millie had her final check up at the vets yesterday…

The mastitis is pretty much cleared up and he’s very pleased with her progress…

She has also gained weight – which is fantastic news given the amount of energy she’s expelling…

RAISING A LITTER OF GOLDENDOODLE PUPPIES IS A TIRING BUSINESS

We’re feeding her on high protein puppy food and goats milk (watered down)…

With boiled fresh mince or chicken breast and scrambled eggs…

We also put a couple of spoons of glucose in her water…

Nice diet ha ha…

Whilst at the vet I also picked up the puppies worming medication…

I arrived back with the syringes of worm medicine and asked Millie’s dad to help…

He held the pups as I squirted the medicine into their mouths…



WORMING THE PUPPIES – MUCH EASIER WHEN THEY’RE ASLEEP !!!

Yes you guessed it – after a day covered in puppy poo and wee…

His day ended covered head to toe in worm medicine…

Topped off of course with the odd dribble of puppy piddle lol…

None of the pups seemed any worse for wear from their dose…

And this morning I was able to administer the medicine single handedly – that’s a woman for you !!!

The pups take the meds for three days and they all have little booklets in which I have recorded it…

I have the morning off so my partner was able to have a bit of a lie in…

I have absolutely adored this precious time with my Millie and the pups…

Watching them feed be cleaned and play has been an absolute joy…

It is going to be a terrible wrench when we have to say goodbye…

But hey that’s a long way away yet – and I really must enjoy the moment…

The new puppy pen arrives today – hopefully – so that’s my plan this morning…

Thanks again for all your emails phone calls and messages – I love hearing from you all…

But I can’t tell you how much I missed my Millie and her baby ‘doodles…

And yes they have indeed become real little dogs !!!

Their little yaps growls and cute barks are wonderful – if a little noisy !!!

HOW MY LITTLE GOLDENDOODLE PUPPIES HAVE GROWN

The puppy whelping box they’re in is now getting a little small – despite it being XXL…

So yesterday we ordered a proper puppy pen – it will give them much more space…

And we shall be able to take it onto the lawn when they get a little older…

I’d made my mind up that on my return I’d give Millie the Goldendoodle a real good groom…

And that’s exactly what I did – with the help of her dad as she was having none of it lol…

But trust me two weeks after giving birth she really did need it…

She was reluctant to get into the shower at first – but once in she really enjoyed it…

It was a gorgeous sunny warm day – so I was able to dry her off outside…

(the puppies had just been fed and were sleeping it off)

MILLIE HAS ALWAYS LOVED BEING TOWEL DRIED


Once she was partly dry I brought her into the lounge and began hunting for knots…

I can assure you there were very many of them…

And it took the razor comb – anti tangle spray and baby scissors to get 99.9% of them out…

SPECIAL ATTENTION TO MILLIE’S UNDERCARRIAGE

I basically give her a towel dry then brush hard against the coat…

As and when I find tangles I try to comb them out – if that doesn’t work I use the razor comb…

And – as happened on this occasion – if that doesn’t work I use baby scissors lol…

Once she’s relatively tangle free I get out the hair dryer…

MILLIE NOW ADORES THE HAIR DRYER AND FINDS IT RELAXING


It has taken a long time getting Millie to trust this…

But now she adores it and will stand or in this case lie quite happily…

Millie really enjoyed the close attention – but every now and then she would break away to check her pups…

At one point she gave them a quick splash and dash as my partner calls it – that’s a quick feed ha ha…

They then slept soundly warm from the sunshine pouring in through the window…

The whole grooming session took me about three hours – which is much longer than normal…

But honestly Millie really did need such attention- she was a state lol…

And of course there was the frequent puppy breaks…

When I finished I have to say she looked amazing…



MILLIE LOOKING GORGEOUS AFTER A LONG GROOMING SESSION


I used a mild puppy shampoo with no scent as I didn’t want the pups confused…

I was curious to see how they’d react when mom went back into the box…

They woke bleary eyed and stretched and yawned and began sniffing around…

There was a slight pause as their little noses got accustomed to the clean fresh Millie…

And then the cacophony began – wow these little ‘doodles can make a racket !!!

And as you can see from the video below – they suckled quite beautifully…



OK it’s back to work with a bump for me today…

The ‘doodles safe under the care of Millie’s dad – who works from home lucky beggar lol…

But trust me I shall be popping back (and so will my secretary ha ha) at every opportunity…

PRESENTING DOODLE DOG PHOTOS – UPLOAD AND SHARE YOUR PUPPY AND DOG PHOTOS

Hello I’m Millie’s Dad – and what a Father’s Day weekend I’ve had !!!

The pups have had a real growth and development spurt – Kate will be amazed later today !!!

As you can see from the video the pups are now beginning to play fight…

And vocally they’ve started giving cute little growls…

But all this playing – poohing (more about that in a minute lol) and feeding is a tiring business…

I have to say they are growing up fast…

Purple Pup even made a break for freedom !!!

Millie had left the box and I was feeding her in the dining room…

I returned to watch the football to hear an angry squeak…

Millie had pushed a cuddly toy near the box entrance…

And Purple Pup had used it as a launch ramp…

She was skittering across the floor making a hell of a racket…

Millie raced in and gave me a look of total and utter contempt…

As if it was all my fault !!!



MILLIE NOT HAPPY WITH HER DAD SEEKS COMFORT IN A PUPPY TOY


As if that was bad enough…

A little while later when the puppies were settled I decided to cut the lawn…

Millie has always loved to help – and typically fell asleep under the bush…

Twenty minutes later I returned and my nose told me something was not quite right…

You guessed it – puppy poop fight !!!

I’ll spare you the photos lol – suffice it to say it was a mess !!!

It would appear two of the little ‘doodles had woken at the same time and moved their bowels…

(Millie usually cleans this up immediately she gets the scent)

It was obviously tiring for them so they had fallen asleep…



WAIT ‘TILL KATE GETS BACK I’M TELLING

The others had thought it was jolly good fun to join them…

The end result – 9 little Goldendoodle puppies covered in gooey puppy poo…

I was frantic – I’d already annoyed Millie…

I popped them all in a large basket lined with a towel and began cleaning as best I could…

After five minutes I looked up to see Millie glowering at me…

Not a happy mom lol…

She went into super mom mode and began topping and tailing them – vigorously lol…

Half an hour later they were all good as new and snuggled up to mom for a long sleep…

All I can say is it’s been amazing but boy am I glad Kate’s back later today…

And I have no doubt Millie and the baby ‘Doods are too…

JUDGING from the number of emails I received yesterday…

I’ve managed to turn you all into ‘doodle puppy photo addicts !!!

Trust me I really do know that feeling – I need my daily fix too !!!

KATE ~ MILLIE AND THE GORGEOUS GOLDENDOODLE PUPPIES

My apologies for not making a daily post…

It was frantic here yesterday – the puppies and Millie are more than fine – more to do with me…

I have a big family wedding in Scotland over the weekend…Congrats Leanne !!!

And a girl needs to look her best – so it was hairdresser and beauty salon for me !!!

Boy did I need it after 12 days of the puppy ‘doodle invasion haha…

I tried to coax Millie into the shower – but she was having none of it…

After giving birth and caring for 9 ‘doodles she really does need it…if you catch my drift lol…

But she refused and I didn’t want to stress her…

Millie’s dad is staying behind to look after them so in between football they’ll be well looked after lol…




“WHITEY” SUCKLES ON MILLIE’S DADS BOTTOM LIP HA HA!!!


With Millie spending more time out of the doodle pup “nest”…

I decided to buy a pile of cuddly toys to give them other things to snuggle up to…

I was thrilled to see them wake and start sniffing and investigating the new members of their nest !!!

They have taken to them immediately – especially Millie’s cuddly fish which they all love to cuddle up too…

GOLDENDOODLE PUPPIES AND SOFT CUDDLY TOYS


Millie however had other ideas…

Once she woke from her afternoon nap she climbed into the whelping box…

It was a classic double take as she saw her litter had “doubled”…

The look on her face was one of confusion and then joy as she saw they were toys…

Millie has always been a great organiser of her toys – each one has a special place in the house…

(we have found her toys in all sorts of strange places – we move them she puts them back)

So once she had fed her pups – each toy was taken out of the box and deposited in her special places…

We need her to play with them so the pups get her scent…

I’m pleased to say she has now let the toys stay and the puppies love them…



“PATCH” CUDDLES UP TO THE CUDDLY TOYS

Each pup will of course be taking one with them when they leave…

Which gave me an idea lol…

When Millie arrived with us at just 8 weeks old she too brought a toy with her…

It was full of the smell of Bess her lovely Golden Retriever mum…

To this day it’s Millie’s special toy and is always near by…

So here’s three photos of Millie – the first when she was born…

The second when she arrived in our home with her special cuddly toy…

And Millie now with that same toy – oh boy has she grown !!!
