THE puppies are growing so very fast and so are their appetites…

Millie can no longer just operate a “splash and dash” feeding regime…

She’s still being amazing and feeding them all regularly…

And we are helping by bringing her three at a time on a mat in the lounge…

She and indeed they like this attention and all the pups get a good feed…

But they are hungry demanding puppies and they need to feed almost 50% of the time…

So it might be a little early in regards to the puppy rule book (lol)…

But we have gradually begun the first steps towards weaning…

Not I hasten to add with anything other than mom’s milk substitute – Lactol Gold…

I made the first batch and tried to feed using a small tiny baby bottle…

But they were having none of it lol…

Switching to a syringe ( no needle ha ha) has had the desired effect…



LAPPING INSTINCTS HAVE TRULY KICKED IN NOW

And the little Goldendoodle puppies are taking at least 5 ml a feed !!!

It’s doing them the power of good – giving Millie a rest – and I love it…

There’s something quite magical about hand feeding a little puppy…

Their lapping instincts have really kicked in now…

I fill the syringe to 5 ml and gently drizzle onto their tongues…

They fix on and begin lapping – “Pinky” was the first and she does it quite beautifully…

Once they are full each pup is given to Millie who gives them a long top and tail…

Before they flop back into the nest and sleep it off…

Millie is always close by keeping an eye on the activities – and also waiting to empty the jug !!!

As you can see form the first video – they are all in good voice…

Whitey and Orange puppy have become the most vocal…

In full flow Orange pup sounds like an exotic bird or monkey lol…

We have been asked a couple of times for individual photos of the pups…

I can honestly say we are working on it – but they never seem to stand still for a minute lol…

We have some – but I think it might be best to do a short movie of them wandering around…

I got the idea after the stunning Red Puppy went for an explore…

I’m back at work on Monday (long day aaargh) so I’ll leave it to Millie’s Dad…

We had visitors here yesterday…

A mum and daughter who are on the puppy list visited to catch a glimpse of the babies…

As you would expect they absolutely loved playing with them…

They return along with the rest of the families next weekend to make final puppy choices…

They are going to have an almost impossible job – they are all GORGEOUS !!!

This has been an absolutely amazing experience…

The hard work and lack of sleep is more than worth it…

It seems each minute the puppies develop and something new happens…

We are absolutely loving it…

Millie has truly made a fantastic mum…

We are both so very very proud of our little girl…

Last night was the first they all slept through…

Luckily for me I was on “Doodle Duty !!!”

After a great night’s sleep Millie and I have a new spring in our steps…

She’s going to need it as the little ‘doods are very active today!!!

Involving a puppy revolt and worming lol…

Ok if you’re sitting comfortably I’ll begin lol…

I arrived home from work mid morning eager to see Millie and the pups…

As I walked into the lounge I saw Millie lying on the floor panting heavily…

Next to her covered in sweat and very dishevelled was her dad…

For a split second I thought something terrible had happened…

But no…

Lilac Puppy had decided to become head of the “Puppy Power Mafia”…



LILAC PUPPY PLOTS HER NEXT MOVE

At least that’s how Millie’s dad described it lol…

OK here’s how the story goes…

The routine after I leave for work is the whelping box is thoroughly cleaned out…

First the pups are popped into a laundry basket – giving Millie time to give them all a good clean…

The box is swept and cleaned with fresh bedding and then the cuddly toys added…

Once the pups are popped back into the box Millie goes in to rearrange everything to her liking…

She gives the Goldendoodle puppies a quick feed – or a splash and dash as we call it lol…

They then settle down for a good hours sleep – having been fed pretty much right through from 3am…

Millie will then eat a hearty breakfast before settling down for a well earned sleep…

However this particular morning Lilac Puppy was having none of it…

She had squawked whilst in the laundry basket – which is not unusual for any of them…

However once Millie had sorted them all out and the 8 puppies were sleeping…

Lilac Pup turned into rabble rouser…

She had walked up to each group of pups squawked loudly in their face before standing on them…

Once that group was awake and squealing through tiredness – she’d move onto the next…



ORANGE PUPPY MAKES A BRAVE BID FOR FREEDOM

Despite Millie’s and my partners best efforts – this went on for a good 2 hours…

With the decibel levels rising – considerably…

Removing Lilac Pup and placing her on a soft vets bed with Millie was the obvious ploy…

However – each time she fell asleep at the nipple and was placed back in the box – it began again…

After numerous attempts at calming them Millie and her dad left them to get on with it by going into the garden…

No joy lol – within 10 minutes the noise was deafening and Millie had raced back inside frantic…

You guessed it Lilac Pup had decided if she wasn’t getting her “Puppy Rights…” then it was a “dirty protest…”

8 beautiful sleepy yawning Goldendoodle puppies covered once again in gooey puppy poop…

Luckily (lol) Millie’s dad has experienced this before so the two of them set about cleaning up the mess…

Lilac Pup was the only one not touched by the goop ha ha…

Once all back in the box and settled Millie’s dad cuddled Lilac Whine (as he has now called her lol)…

Until she slept like a baby…

On my return they were all sleeping peacefully out for the count …

My timing is and has been immaculate – I miss all the action ha ha…



THE ‘DOODLE TRIBE GATHERS STRENGTH FOR THE NEXT REVOLUTION

Funnily enough I watched quietly this morning as Millie’s dad fussed over them…

Little Lilac Pup was the first to stumble over to sniff his fingers before licking his arm gently…

I think they’re big friends really ha ha…

On asking him if he had taken any photos or footage of the chaos – he just gave me a wry smile…

I guess the answer’s no ha ha…

OK back to the real ‘Doodle world…

Millie had her final check up at the vets yesterday…

The mastitis is pretty much cleared up and he’s very pleased with her progress…

She has also gained weight – which is fantastic news given the amount of energy she’s expelling…

RAISING A LITTER OF GOLDENDOODLE PUPPIES IS A TIRING BUSINESS

We’re feeding her on high protein puppy food and goats milk (watered down)…

With boiled fresh mince or chicken breast and scrambled eggs…

We also put a couple of spoons of glucose in her water…

Nice diet ha ha…

Whilst at the vet I also picked up the puppies worming medication…

I arrived back with the syringes of worm medicine and asked Millie’s dad to help…

He held the pups as I squirted the medicine into their mouths…



WORMING THE PUPPIES – MUCH EASIER WHEN THEY’RE ASLEEP !!!

Yes you guessed it – after a day covered in puppy poo and wee…

His day ended covered head to toe in worm medicine…

Topped off of course with the odd dribble of puppy piddle lol…

None of the pups seemed any worse for wear from their dose…

And this morning I was able to administer the medicine single handedly – that’s a woman for you !!!

The pups take the meds for three days and they all have little booklets in which I have recorded it…

I have the morning off so my partner was able to have a bit of a lie in…

I have absolutely adored this precious time with my Millie and the pups…

Watching them feed be cleaned and play has been an absolute joy…

It is going to be a terrible wrench when we have to say goodbye…

But hey that’s a long way away yet – and I really must enjoy the moment…

The new puppy pen arrives today – hopefully – so that’s my plan this morning…

JUDGING from the number of emails I received yesterday…

I’ve managed to turn you all into ‘doodle puppy photo addicts !!!

Trust me I really do know that feeling – I need my daily fix too !!!

KATE ~ MILLIE AND THE GORGEOUS GOLDENDOODLE PUPPIES

My apologies for not making a daily post…

It was frantic here yesterday – the puppies and Millie are more than fine – more to do with me…

I have a big family wedding in Scotland over the weekend…Congrats Leanne !!!

And a girl needs to look her best – so it was hairdresser and beauty salon for me !!!

Boy did I need it after 12 days of the puppy ‘doodle invasion haha…

I tried to coax Millie into the shower – but she was having none of it…

After giving birth and caring for 9 ‘doodles she really does need it…if you catch my drift lol…

But she refused and I didn’t want to stress her…

Millie’s dad is staying behind to look after them so in between football they’ll be well looked after lol…




“WHITEY” SUCKLES ON MILLIE’S DADS BOTTOM LIP HA HA!!!


With Millie spending more time out of the doodle pup “nest”…

I decided to buy a pile of cuddly toys to give them other things to snuggle up to…

I was thrilled to see them wake and start sniffing and investigating the new members of their nest !!!

They have taken to them immediately – especially Millie’s cuddly fish which they all love to cuddle up too…

Millie however had other ideas…

Once she woke from her afternoon nap she climbed into the whelping box…

It was a classic double take as she saw her litter had “doubled”…

The look on her face was one of confusion and then joy as she saw they were toys…

Millie has always been a great organiser of her toys – each one has a special place in the house…

(we have found her toys in all sorts of strange places – we move them she puts them back)

So once she had fed her pups – each toy was taken out of the box and deposited in her special places…

We need her to play with them so the pups get her scent…

I’m pleased to say she has now let the toys stay and the puppies love them…



“PATCH” CUDDLES UP TO THE CUDDLY TOYS

Each pup will of course be taking one with them when they leave…

Which gave me an idea lol…

When Millie arrived with us at just 8 weeks old she too brought a toy with her…

It was full of the smell of Bess her lovely Golden Retriever mum…

To this day it’s Millie’s special toy and is always near by…

So here’s three photos of Millie – the first when she was born…

The second when she arrived in our home with her special cuddly toy…

And Millie now with that same toy – oh boy has she grown !!!

PRESENTING DOODLE DOG PHOTOS – UPLOAD AND SHARE YOUR PUPPY AND DOG PHOTOS

The “DOODS” have not only found their collective voices…

But have also began to take those first real steps!!!

Given the World Cup is on constantly in our house…

At least the little doods squawks and squeaks drowns out that awful vuvuzela buzz lol…

As for taking their first real steps – it can be a tiring business…

MOTHER AND DAUGHTER SHARE A TRULY TENDER MOMENT

Purple was the first little Goldendoodle puppy to try to stand…

After all she was also the first to scream for her mum (boy she has a voice ha ha)…

And that has enabled her to get the “drop” on the others when it comes to feeding…

As you can see as soon as Millie arrives in the nest – they go berserk…

As the day wore on they all began standing – to varying degrees of success !!!

This morning they were all absolutely worn out with the exercise and enjoyed a leisurely breakfast with mom…




We have of course being weighed the little ‘doodles daily…

And once again I’m delighted to sat they are all thriving – and couldn’t be in better health…

Last week for instance when we changed their bedding we were using a tiny basket…

Yesterday my partner had to use a full sized laundry basket to fit them all in !!!

A BASKETFUL OF DOODLE PUPPIES !!!

Millie had another check up at the vet yesterday…

Being a former nurse I noticed her swollen nipple was looking a little sore…

The swelling had gone down considerably – but the skin around it was tender and red…

It was probably caused by tiny little doodle feet – the vet took a look and gave her the all clear…

However she has been given more antibiotics to keep it under control…

She shows no sign of discomfort and the pups have done her proud clearing it out !!!

OK a little later today we shall be taking individual portrait photographs of the Goldendoodle pups…

And we shall post them tomorrow so you can all get a clearer look at the little darlings…

Her daddy is also working on – of all things – a Facebook application !!!

My partner got the idea after the photo of Millie the Goldendoodle in her England flag was tagged on Facebook…

Quite a few people are using that photo – some even as their profile photo…

The photo has appeared on the official English FA page and Carlsberg for England !!!

And best news of all the OFFICIAL FA BACK THE BID 2018 (the World Cup In England) want the original photo !!!

We’re all pleased but Millie’s dad is ecstatic – he says she really is the World Cup Goldendoodle haha…

He thinks we should get Millie and agent – good Lord what next !!!

Welcome to the wonderful world of newborn Goldendoodle puppies…

The good news is Millie took a break for a few precious moments last night…

She ran and rolled around the garden before having her first bowel movement in days !!!

I think the relief of that was a good as giving birth ha ha !!!

Please excuse the quality of the individual goldendoodle puppy photos…

We didn’t want to stress them or Millie – so were snapped very quickly after being weighed…

TAKEN MOMENTS AGO MILLIE FEEDING HER GOLDENDOODLE PUPPIES

There is one strange thing to add – involving of all things – a football !!!

My partner trod on it in the garden and it squeaked…

Millie ran outside – grabbed it and took it into her whelping box…

She immediately began nuzzling and licking it…

I was alarmed at first – as Millie showed some distress…

But all is well now and the squeaky ball is right where she can see it !!!

OK that’ll do for today’s update…

Mum and her pups are doing more than fine…

So love from me Kate – licks from Millie and squeaks from the little doods and dudettes !!!

What an absolute dream mum Millie is !!!

OK the best thing to do is start at the beginning…

I spoke to a lot of you on the phone yesterday…

And I guess you could see how excited I was – very wired and high ha ha…

OK – around 4pm on Monday evening Millie began the first stages of labour…

She was restless and panting and anxious…

She eventually settled in her whelping box around midnight…

I stayed on the sofa next to her and had to let her out a couple of times for the call of nature…

Otherwise she slept reasonably well until 4am…

My partner came down to give me a break – but I couldn’t sleep !!!

By 10am Millie was pacing more often…

She sat next to my partner on the floor and her tummy suddenly contracted four times…

She jumped up with alarm as her waters broke…

As if by magic she ran to her whelping box and began pushing…

Within a few minutes the first puppy was born…

My heart skipped a beat as I wondered how Millie would take to this…

I needn’t have worried – we helped her clear the little girls mouth – who let out an almighty squawk !!!

Millie was absolutely fantastic – she instinctively ate the placentae leaving a perfect little strand left…

Within 13 minutes Millie was pushing again !!!

Another little Goldendoodle girl puppy arrived in the world and again letting out an almighty squeak !!!



AND THEN THERE WERE TWO GOLDENDOODLE PUPPIES !!!


The next three came at 10 minute intervals and we began wondering just how many were in there lol…

The scan had shown us at least 5…

Within a few minutes the sixth arrived…

This time he came out tail first with one leg showing…

Despite Millie’s pushing he would not budge…

We managed to calm her down and get a little traction and with on last push out he popped…

He was a little listless but a good licking from mum and he coughed out some mucus and was fine…

In fact he’s become a right noisy little puppy !!!



NINE PERFECT MINUTES OLD GOLDENDOODLE PUPPIES


After nine we were hoping that really was it – after all Millie only has nine nipples !!!

We waited and watched as mum cleaned and loved her litter…

After an hour we decided that was indeed it and gave them a little privacy (watching from a distance)…

Millie was incredible – none stop cleaning nudging and positioning the little pups where she wanted them…

We offered her some water and she gulped it down bless her – thirsty work indeed…

After 3 hours she sat up – it was a sight to see nine little doodles dropping off her lol…

She ran to the patio doors – raced outside and had the longest wee in history…

She immediately flew back to her Goldendoodle puppies and organized them where she wanted…

What an absolute star she is!!!




NINE NIPPLES AND NINE GOLDENDOODLE PUPPIES !!!


For the next three hours mum and the puppies bonded and slept on and off…

Millie was exhausted but still woke immediately she heard one of them cry…

By 8 pm we felt it was the right time to clean the whelping box…

Millie was a little nervous about getting out – but we placed the puppies in a snug box where she could see them…

She even enjoyed a sponge down with warm water…

Once the bed was clean and snug mum and pups settled down for the night…

I decided to stay on the sofa near them over night – but not interfere…

I’d love to say Millie and me had a unbroken nights sleep – but with nine little pups hardly !!!

The short video shows mum and her pups first thing this morning – so happy and contented…

And what beautiful colours they all are – my partner calls them the Spice Girls ha ha…




THE SPICE GIRLS AND BOYS CUTE DAY OLD GOLDENDOODLE PUPPIES


Being a former nurse I just HAVE to weigh and monitor my charges lol…

So I’m adding completely safe paper colour coded collars and weighing the pups daily !!!

I shall keep you all informed of their progress so stay tuned !!!

I really should be tired – but this has been such an amazing experience I’m wide awake !!!

I am so proud of our little girl it’s untrue – she has been and is being simple amazing…

We are blessed with Millie and I know her puppies are going to make people so very happy…
