Hello I’m Millie’s Dad – and what a Father’s Day weekend I’ve had !!!

The pups have had a real growth and development spurt – Kate will be amazed later today !!!

As you can see from the video the pups are now beginning to play fight…

And vocally they’ve started giving cute little growls…

But all this playing – poohing (more about that in a minute lol) and feeding is a tiring business…

I have to say they are growing up fast…

Purple Pup even made a break for freedom !!!

Millie had left the box and I was feeding her in the dining room…

I returned to watch the football to hear an angry squeak…

Millie had pushed a cuddly toy near the box entrance…

And Purple Pup had used it as a launch ramp…

She was skittering across the floor making a hell of a racket…

Millie raced in and gave me a look of total and utter contempt…

As if it was all my fault !!!



MILLIE NOT HAPPY WITH HER DAD SEEKS COMFORT IN A PUPPY TOY


As if that was bad enough…

A little while later when the puppies were settled I decided to cut the lawn…

Millie has always loved to help – and typically fell asleep under the bush…

Twenty minutes later I returned and my nose told me something was not quite right…

You guessed it – puppy poop fight !!!

I’ll spare you the photos lol – suffice it to say it was a mess !!!

It would appear two of the little ‘doodles had woken at the same time and moved their bowels…

(Millie usually cleans this up immediately she gets the scent)

It was obviously tiring for them so they had fallen asleep…



WAIT ‘TILL KATE GETS BACK I’M TELLING

The others had thought it was jolly good fun to join them…

The end result – 9 little Goldendoodle puppies covered in gooey puppy poo…

I was frantic – I’d already annoyed Millie…

I popped them all in a large basket lined with a towel and began cleaning as best I could…

After five minutes I looked up to see Millie glowering at me…

Not a happy mom lol…

She went into super mom mode and began topping and tailing them – vigorously lol…

Half an hour later they were all good as new and snuggled up to mom for a long sleep…

All I can say is it’s been amazing but boy am I glad Kate’s back later today…

And I have no doubt Millie and the baby ‘Doods are too…

PRESENTING DOODLE DOG PHOTOS – UPLOAD AND SHARE YOUR PUPPY AND DOG PHOTOS

After all the drama of mastitis I’m glad to say all is back to normal…

Well as normal as things can be with these little Goldendoodle puppies lol…

I took Millie back to the vets on Sunday morning…

We were pretty sure she was on the mend…

In fact the vet was extremely pleased with her…

The antibiotics and the suckling pups have almost brought the swelling in her nipple down…

She’s a lot more comfortable and nursing her puppies extremely well…

The vet was impressed too…

“I’m very taken with this dog…she has a wonderful nature…”

High praise indeed and I’m sure her puppies will have lovely characters too…



SEPARATED AT BIRTH Ha Ha..?

Not much else to report really…

Apart from them all getting fresh paper collars on Sunday afternoon…

They have all put so much weight on I am running out of collars ha ha…

I maybe have enough for one more change – note to me order some more…

It’s lovely to see their characters coming out even at this early stage…

Purple collar for instance is a little bossy madam…

Boy does she assert herself…

My partner is quite taken with her – except at 3 am when she squawks – loudly – for attention ha ha…

The little pink girl was the smallest and we have kept an eye on her feeding…

I’m happy to say not only has she gained a load of weight this weekend…

She’s also getting the hang of pushing the bigger pups out of the way lol…

And oh boy did she enjoy it – albeit a very brief respite from the doodle puppies…

We were not at all sure she’d want to leave them…

But she instigated it by sitting at the front door and responding to “do you want a walk..?”

Can’t be much clearer than that ha ha…

My partner was overjoyed to be able to take her out…

He works from home so has “missed his baby” this week (bless him lol)…

MILLIE TAKES A RARE BREATHER FROM HER LITTER OF GOLDENDOODLE PUPPIES


She pulled all the way to her favourite field less than a minutes walk away and ran and rolled like a puppy…

She was only gone 10 minutes but in that time I was able to clean out the whelping box and check the puppies over…

The great news is they are all healthy and gaining weight…

Some more than others – but there are no problems whatsoever…

WEIGHING NEW BORN GOLDENDOODLE PUPPIES – THIS ONE IS THE NOISIEST OF THE BUNCH!!!

On her return Millie was straight in there nudging them all into position…

The noise they made on her return was a complete joy…

They really are vigorous feeders…

So much so I’ve noticed Millie’s nipples are very sore…

I spoke to a close friend of mine who owns a farm…

She has bred working sheepdogs for years and knows only too well the problem…

She has recommended a puppy safe cream which I’m applying this morning…

Let’s hope it gives Millie some relief…

Not much more to add this morning – mum and her puppies are doing very very well…

Welcome to the wonderful world of newborn Goldendoodle puppies…

The good news is Millie took a break for a few precious moments last night…

She ran and rolled around the garden before having her first bowel movement in days !!!

I think the relief of that was a good as giving birth ha ha !!!

Please excuse the quality of the individual goldendoodle puppy photos…

We didn’t want to stress them or Millie – so were snapped very quickly after being weighed…

TAKEN MOMENTS AGO MILLIE FEEDING HER GOLDENDOODLE PUPPIES

There is one strange thing to add – involving of all things – a football !!!

My partner trod on it in the garden and it squeaked…

Millie ran outside – grabbed it and took it into her whelping box…

She immediately began nuzzling and licking it…

I was alarmed at first – as Millie showed some distress…

But all is well now and the squeaky ball is right where she can see it !!!

OK that’ll do for today’s update…

Mum and her pups are doing more than fine…

What an absolute dream mum Millie is !!!

OK the best thing to do is start at the beginning…

I spoke to a lot of you on the phone yesterday…

And I guess you could see how excited I was – very wired and high ha ha…

OK – around 4pm on Monday evening Millie began the first stages of labour…

She was restless and panting and anxious…

She eventually settled in her whelping box around midnight…

I stayed on the sofa next to her and had to let her out a couple of times for the call of nature…

Otherwise she slept reasonably well until 4am…

My partner came down to give me a break – but I couldn’t sleep !!!

By 10am Millie was pacing more often…

She sat next to my partner on the floor and her tummy suddenly contracted four times…

She jumped up with alarm as her waters broke…

As if by magic she ran to her whelping box and began pushing…

Within a few minutes the first puppy was born…

My heart skipped a beat as I wondered how Millie would take to this…

I needn’t have worried – we helped her clear the little girls mouth – who let out an almighty squawk !!!

Millie was absolutely fantastic – she instinctively ate the placentae leaving a perfect little strand left…

Within 13 minutes Millie was pushing again !!!

Another little Goldendoodle girl puppy arrived in the world and again letting out an almighty squeak !!!



AND THEN THERE WERE TWO GOLDENDOODLE PUPPIES !!!


The next three came at 10 minute intervals and we began wondering just how many were in there lol…

The scan had shown us at least 5…

Within a few minutes the sixth arrived…

This time he came out tail first with one leg showing…

Despite Millie’s pushing he would not budge…

We managed to calm her down and get a little traction and with on last push out he popped…

He was a little listless but a good licking from mum and he coughed out some mucus and was fine…

In fact he’s become a right noisy little puppy !!!



NINE PERFECT MINUTES OLD GOLDENDOODLE PUPPIES


After nine we were hoping that really was it – after all Millie only has nine nipples !!!

We waited and watched as mum cleaned and loved her litter…

After an hour we decided that was indeed it and gave them a little privacy (watching from a distance)…

Millie was incredible – none stop cleaning nudging and positioning the little pups where she wanted them…

We offered her some water and she gulped it down bless her – thirsty work indeed…

After 3 hours she sat up – it was a sight to see nine little doodles dropping off her lol…

She ran to the patio doors – raced outside and had the longest wee in history…

She immediately flew back to her Goldendoodle puppies and organized them where she wanted…

What an absolute star she is!!!




NINE NIPPLES AND NINE GOLDENDOODLE PUPPIES !!!


For the next three hours mum and the puppies bonded and slept on and off…

Millie was exhausted but still woke immediately she heard one of them cry…

By 8 pm we felt it was the right time to clean the whelping box…

Millie was a little nervous about getting out – but we placed the puppies in a snug box where she could see them…

She even enjoyed a sponge down with warm water…

Once the bed was clean and snug mum and pups settled down for the night…

I decided to stay on the sofa near them over night – but not interfere…

I’d love to say Millie and me had a unbroken nights sleep – but with nine little pups hardly !!!

The short video shows mum and her pups first thing this morning – so happy and contented…

And what beautiful colours they all are – my partner calls them the Spice Girls ha ha…




THE SPICE GIRLS AND BOYS CUTE DAY OLD GOLDENDOODLE PUPPIES


Being a former nurse I just HAVE to weigh and monitor my charges lol…

So I’m adding completely safe paper colour coded collars and weighing the pups daily !!!

I shall keep you all informed of their progress so stay tuned !!!

I really should be tired – but this has been such an amazing experience I’m wide awake !!!

I am so proud of our little girl it’s untrue – she has been and is being simple amazing…

We are blessed with Millie and I know her puppies are going to make people so very happy…

Ok I shall write more later – until then lots of love from me Kate…

And of course love licks and wags from Millie and the Spice Girls and Boys!!!

The great news is Millie’s temperature has dropped considerably this morning…

I checked again later this afternoon and it is stable…

All the signs are she’s ready to give birth to her litter of Goldendoodle puppies within 48 hours!!!

She’s been for a little walk this morning and had a real spring in her step…

And with the cooler weather she seems full of beans – jumping beans judging by the movement in her tummy…

This afternoon she slept for ages and enjoyed a relaxing tummy rub…

MILLIE HAS NINE NIPPLES HA HA!!!


Her appetite isn’t so good – we’ve tried everything she likes – but she’ll only eat the bare minimum…

I’m not to worried she’s put on a stone since breeding…

I have spent the afternoon preparing her whelping box and sorting through the kit…

I very much doubt we’ll use any of the kit apart from the scales lol…

Millie showed great interest in her whelping box and has slept for a long time in there today – great news !!!

I have to say I’m a little nervous – but very excited…

Just thought I’d let you all know her progress…

Hopefully we should have some more news in the next 24 hours…

This Is My Rock Chick Look

No Pictures I’m Famous!!!

Seems like only yesterday this little bundle of fluff arrived…

She has been an absolute star through house moves – builders you name it…

And all that life can throw at a baby puppy Goldendoodle!!!

House training was a complete breeze…

There’s been no chewing – OK we had a little “mouthing” as a 3 month old pup…

She isn’t fussy over feeding – has excellent table manners!!!

And as she gets that little bit older maybe the “dog people blindness” might stop!!!

As in – “Oh dog / people ” Millie charges over to say Hi!!!

But truly she has been an absolute angel – a real pleasure and a real intregal part of our family…

She shall be celebrating her first birthday with what else but a swim in the local river!!!

If you’re looking for the perfect loving soft fluffy family pet…

I shall keep saying it – BUY A GOLDENDOODLE PUPPY!!!!

IN all seriousness we got Millie from Gundogs UK…

And we can only highly recommend them…

They really are superb breeders…

So now there really are no excuses!!!
