GOLDENDOODLE MUM TO BE MILLIE LOOKING RADIANT THIS MORNING

YOUR Monday Millie whelping update…

The great news is Millie’s temperature has dropped considerably this morning…

I checked again later this afternoon and it is stable…

All the signs are she’s ready to give birth to her litter of Goldendoodle puppies within 48 hours!!!

She’s been for a little walk this morning and had a real spring in her step…

And with the cooler weather she seems full of beans – jumping beans judging by the movement in her tummy…

This afternoon she slept for ages and enjoyed a relaxing tummy rub…

MILLIE HAS NINE NIPPLES HA HA!!!


Her appetite isn’t so good – we’ve tried everything she likes – but she’ll only eat the bare minimum…

I’m not to worried she’s put on a stone since breeding…

I have spent the afternoon preparing her whelping box and sorting through the kit…

I very much doubt we’ll use any of the kit apart from the scales lol…

Millie showed great interest in her whelping box and has slept for a long time in there today – great news !!!

I have to say I’m a little nervous – but very excited…

Just thought I’d let you all know her progress…

Hopefully we should have some more news in the next 24 hours…

MILLIE THE GOLDENDOODLE MUSES ON PREGNANCY

JUST a quick up date on Millie the Goldendoodle and her due whelping date…

The past few days have been hard for her to say the least…

She’s never really liked warm weather…

But this week has seen temperatures soaring and with it Millie’s mood dropping…

The good news is she’s finished her antibiotics and her cough has completely cleared up…

But her belly is now the size and shape of a beach ball lol…

A beach ball full of little Goldendoodle puppies squirming wriggling and kicking…

And boy do those boys and girls kick!!!

My partner says if there’s eleven puppies they’ll be named (temporarily of course) as the England World Cup squad !!!

She’s finding it very difficult to get comfortable and to settle…

We moved the laptop outside on Friday and placed a huge umbrella for Millie to sleep under…

It was in the shade of a huge bush she used to play in as a puppy (more on that later lol)…

She seemed pretty pleased and let out a huge sigh and literally collapsed…

However little be known to us a family of blackbirds had built a nest in the very same bush…

And you guessed it that very moment the chicks hatched…

Mom and dad blackbird began their feeding ritual and each time they crashed into the bush Millie jumped with fright!!!

I truly thought the shock would bring on her “labour” – but luckily it didn’t…

I just hope the blackbirds survive – we have enough on our hands with a litter of Goldendoodle puppies…

Without hand rearing baby birds !!!!



OK back to Millie and her bushes…

We have a feeling another bush by the shed is her chosen whelping spot…

She has been desperately trying to get behind it all week…

It might be the shade she’s craving – silly girl wont go indoors – but I’m not so sure…

Might be a good idea to block it off !!!

I spoke to Sam from Gun Dogs UK this week – she’s the breeder we got Millie from…

She’s been fantastic support through this and has become a good friend…

However I wasn’t too happy when she told me about Millie’s mom and whelping…

“She’s always exactly 5 days late…” she said cheerfully….

I nearly died – I’ve booked the whole week off work ha ha !!!

Ah well whatever will be will be – and my boss is pretty flexible over the next couple of weeks…

So fingers crossed Millie will be giving birth this Tuesday…

If not it’ll be next weekend…

I’m sure not something Millie would want lol…

Millie Seems To Like Her Huge Whelping Box

MILLIE the Goldendoodle has been a little unwell this past week…

A couple of days after the big Midlands ‘Doodle Meet (see last post) she began coughing…

At first we thought it was just maybe a bit of grass stuck…

She has been munching on the stuff despite our best efforts to stop her…

However the following day it was much worse – and even her nose began streaming…

It was totally clear but even so we decided to take her to the vets…

The vet was fantastic and did a thorough check up and puppy safe antibiotics were given…

Within a couple of days they seemed to be doing the trick and she was much much brighter…

But given she’s just one week away from having her litter of Goldendoodle puppies – we have been very worried…

We hadn’t had a cough out of her for two whole days so were very relieved…

We returned to the vets on Friday for the follow up appointment…

Happy enough not to have heard one single cough out of our little girl…

Millie loves the vets – unlike most dogs lol – so as we approached the door she bolted forward pulling the lead tight…

As she scrambled through the door the collar caused her to let out a deep bellowing cough – right in front of the vet !!!

Just your typical silly dog pulling on the lead cough – but the vet immediately gave her another set of tablets…

£50′s worth haha…

Only joking – you know as well as I do you go the extra mile for your dog…

But seriously she hasn’t coughed since haha…

She was so much better that the family bar-b-q we held on Sunday became Millie’s “baby shower”…

And given it was England vs Japan (football) my partner decided to “tomboy” her up a bit…

Millie being the star she is was only too willing to pose…



Millie Ready For The World Cup

She has taken quite a shine to Wayne Rooney…

If you look at the photo – you can see him at her feet…

However 10 minutes later Millie was shown the red card after she chewed his ear nose and chin off!!!

DESPITE BEING IRISH MILLIE AND ME ARE SUPPORTING ENGLAND !!!


So what started as a worrying week turned out great in the end…

Millie is now as fit as a fiddle – but her belly is huge !!!

She loves to lie on her back and let me rub her tummy…

And I love it too – especially when I feel one of the little pups inside move…

It’s such a thrill to know we’re less than a week away from being introduced to Millie’s babies!!!

Being poorly had one positive outcome for Millie…

As you can see from the first photo – she’s really taken to her whelping box !!!

We’ve moved it into the lounge so she gets used to it…

And despite her early distrust – once her favourite blanket was placed in there…

She pretty soon hopped in and made herself comfy…

I’m taking her temperature daily as this will give a good indication of when the birth is imminent…

We think we have one week to go – but with Millie the Goldendoodle who know haha !!!
