Goodness me it only seems a few weeks ago that we brought this shivering slightly over-sized puppy home!!!
He was a poor “little” thing…not happy with the 3 hour car journey and deeply mistrustful of Neil (my partner). In fact the first few weeks he was frightened of absolutely anything ~ I am proud to say that whilst I think he’ll always be a reserved dog (unlike Millie lol) ~ he’s definitely coming out of his shell…
He’s still a little anxious ~ OK he barks like a loon ~ when my son Max comes home, that’s probably due to the motor cycle helmet, but even though Max now takes it off Wally still goes nuts haha…however there’s a few men he accepts and likes which is great…
On the lead he is amazing and on a free run he is completely nuts living up to the name we gave him, as in “what a Wally!!!” His recall is fantastic and million times better than Millie who smells every single blade of grass before coming lol. Wally however dashes back and sits beautifully waiting for his lead. In the house he tries hard to “dominate” Millie (non violently lol) but out on the field she really does give him what for haha…It’s fantastic they are such good friends, but then as you all know Millie is friends with everyone!!!
I was very proud of our boy after his first (3 hour lol) grooming session and the girls did a fantastic job, though I do miss our long haired shaggy dog I don’t miss the endless grooming lol. He’s a real boy and seems to find fox poop and muddy puddles to roll in every time he goes out ~ a cleaning and grooming nightmare!!!
I’m at work all day and he’s here with Neil, and I’m thrilled Wally now absolutely adores him, however his enthusiasm knows no bounds and I can’t count the number of scratches and strains Neil’s got from a seven stone ‘doodle pup launching at him to give him hugs loves and kisses!!!
I have been very firm with Wally since he began to grow, and I’m very proud he treats me as his pack leader. He rarely (if ever) jumps up me, but I’m told from 4pm each day he sits patiently by the window waiting for me. On my arrival, particularly after a long day, he is so overjoyed to see me it brings a tear to my eye…
OK I’m off to take the ‘doods on a special walk and free run over the woods with a good friend of mine and her lovely dogs…thanks for reading and visiting our blog…
Take care lots of love ~ hugs ~ wags and kisses… Kate ~ Millie and Wally
