THE PROUD MUM AND HER LITTER OF CUTE GOLDENDOODLE PUPPIES

POOR little Millie the Goldendoodle has a nasty case of mastitis…

It all happened so quickly…

One minute she was feeding happily and the next she became quite poorly…

She had a high temperature and became very “spacey…”

She simply couldn’t lie down – but still allowed the puppies to feed by sitting upright…

A quick examination showed one of her teats was swollen and inflamed…

Luckily the pups had fed well – were sleeping soundly and we rushed Millie to the vets…

He was fantastic and agreed it was indeed mastitis…

He gave her two injections (both safe for the puppy milk) – antibiotic and a pain killer…

Within minutes Millie was much happier…

Infact she pulled us out of the surgery to the car – such was her haste to get home !!!




CHECKING MILLIE IS NOT IN TOO MUCH DISCOMFORT WHILST NURSING HER PUPPIES

On her return she immediately checked on the babies…

Before lying down gingerly and falling asleep for a good 3/4 of an hour…

It was the longest sleep she’s had since the puppies were born…

Once awake I checked her sore teat again and gently massaged it with olive oil…

In fact I gave all of her nipples a good gentle clean…

Millie seemed to really enjoy the close attention and lay happily on her back…

The swelling had gone down considerably and Millie was more than happy to return to her whelping box…

The puppies on the other hand seemed none to concerned at mums return !!!

They had all curled up together and were all snoring in a deep contended full belly sleep…

Millie was a little miffed and eventually began licking and nosing them to wake.,..

It was a great relief to us all that the puppies immediately “latched on” and fed happily…

The vet had recommended we allowed the pups to suckle the swollen teat…

This would both gauge Millie’s pain level – and of course help bring down the inflammation…

We rotated the aggressive and gentle feeders and was delighted to see Millie showed no discomfort…

The great news is Millie stayed with the puppies all night…

And I can assure you all they have gorged themselves on her milk !!!

My partner stayed with them and says it was the most peaceful night they’ve had…

I managed to sleep a little longer despite my concerns…

As soon as I came down this morning I coaxed Millie on her back to check her nipples…

I am so relieved to say the swelling has almost completely gone !!!

I have weighed all the puppies and am delighted to say they have all gained weight considerably…

They are all feisty squeaky and none the worse for yesterdays dramas…

And as you can see all happy content and coming on amazingly well…

Millie and me are off to the vets this morning for a quick check up…

I’ll let you know how it goes – but pretty sure everything is more than OK !!!

Put it this was I’m a lot happier taking her today than I was yesterday !!!

MILLIE THE GOLDENDOODLE MUSES ON PREGNANCY

JUST a quick up date on Millie the Goldendoodle and her due whelping date…

The past few days have been hard for her to say the least…

She’s never really liked warm weather…

But this week has seen temperatures soaring and with it Millie’s mood dropping…

The good news is she’s finished her antibiotics and her cough has completely cleared up…

But her belly is now the size and shape of a beach ball lol…

A beach ball full of little Goldendoodle puppies squirming wriggling and kicking…

And boy do those boys and girls kick!!!

My partner says if there’s eleven puppies they’ll be named (temporarily of course) as the England World Cup squad !!!

She’s finding it very difficult to get comfortable and to settle…

We moved the laptop outside on Friday and placed a huge umbrella for Millie to sleep under…

It was in the shade of a huge bush she used to play in as a puppy (more on that later lol)…

She seemed pretty pleased and let out a huge sigh and literally collapsed…

However little be known to us a family of blackbirds had built a nest in the very same bush…

And you guessed it that very moment the chicks hatched…

Mom and dad blackbird began their feeding ritual and each time they crashed into the bush Millie jumped with fright!!!

I truly thought the shock would bring on her “labour” – but luckily it didn’t…

I just hope the blackbirds survive – we have enough on our hands with a litter of Goldendoodle puppies…

Without hand rearing baby birds !!!!



OK back to Millie and her bushes…

We have a feeling another bush by the shed is her chosen whelping spot…

She has been desperately trying to get behind it all week…

It might be the shade she’s craving – silly girl wont go indoors – but I’m not so sure…

Might be a good idea to block it off !!!

I spoke to Sam from Gun Dogs UK this week – she’s the breeder we got Millie from…

She’s been fantastic support through this and has become a good friend…

However I wasn’t too happy when she told me about Millie’s mom and whelping…

“She’s always exactly 5 days late…” she said cheerfully….

I nearly died – I’ve booked the whole week off work ha ha !!!

Ah well whatever will be will be – and my boss is pretty flexible over the next couple of weeks…

So fingers crossed Millie will be giving birth this Tuesday…

If not it’ll be next weekend…

I’m sure not something Millie would want lol…

WHAT a fantastic weekend for a ‘Doodle Meet !!!

Gin clear skies – hot sunshine – great people – tons of ‘doodle’s and plenty of shade !!!

And an absolutely beautiful camp site set in the stunning Kingsbury Water Park…

It was fantastic to put faces to so many names from Doodle Mania – the best ‘doodle owner forum on line…

Unlike the ‘Doodle Meet we attended last year this time we were just day visitors…

Millie is just two weeks away from giving birth to her litter of Goldendoodle puppies…

So we felt all the excitement might be too much for her…

However after her initial thrill at seeing all her mates and of course Biddy her best buddy…




BIDDY AND MILLIE BEST MATES SINCE PUPPIES


She soon settled and seemed to really enjoy herself…

Millie was so happy to see Biddy’s mum and dad Paddy and Lynn…

She jumped up and licked Lynn to pieces !!!

As for Paddy – Millie absolutely loves him to bits – as far as Millie is concerned he’s her second dad !!!



PADDY IN A TANGLE WITH SO MANY GOLDENDOODLES AROUND !!!


We all have to thank Julie for the lovely bandanna she made for ALL the ‘doodles !!!

Pink for the girls and blue for the boys !!!

Doodle Mania are tireless in their efforts to raise cash for dog/pet charities…

This event was predominantly to raise funds for the incredible Hounds For Heroes…

They train and provide assistance dogs to both members of the armed forces…

And civilian emergency services who have been injured serving their country…

It’s a registered charity and well worth your support…




PLEASE GIVE GENEROUSLY TO HOUNDS FOR HEROES

We totally endorse this amazing charity and suggest either a donation however big or small…

Or to buy a set of their superb and very trendy “dog tags”…

Millie has a set and loves them !!!

OK back to the ‘Doodle Meet…

Despite the heat Millie was happy to sit in the shade and enjoy all the attention…



GOLDENDOODLES ENJOYING THE SHADE !!!


And there was lots of it – and ice cream thanks to Julie and cold drinks thanks to Lynn !!!

Everybody it seemed wanted to rub Millie’s big fat tummy !!!

The puppies are now moving and it was a joy to see people’s – especially the children’s – smiles when they felt a tiny wriggle…

We were very pleased to meet a family who intend to have one of Millie’s Godlendoodle puppies…

Jane – Kevin and children had driven up from Surrey and immediately loved being fussed by so many different ‘Doodles !!!

Millie was absolutely charming and took to the children immediately…

Especially Felicity whom Millie absolutely idolized…



MILLIE THE GOLDENDOODLE AND FELICITY

They are indeed a lovely family and the lucky Goldendoodle puppy will have a fantastic life with them…

They live very close to Doodle Mania owners Rob and Caroline…

And have already researched the nearest ‘Doodle Meet and plan to get the new pup at the first one they can!!!

Doodle Mania is a fantastic forum for all ‘doodle types – and you’re sure to get superb advice and make amazing friends – so pop along !!!

Everyone had arrived by around 3pm and were ready for the ‘doodle walk…

Millie was extremely anxious to get going…

And being the “princess” she is…

Just had to lead the way…

We had to chuckle at her wriggly bottom – walking just like a pregnant duck haha…

Kevin took her lead and Millie was very well behaved – so much so each of the children held the lead for a while…

Once near the water we let her and the others off the leads and splish splash Millie and Biddy were in !!!

Typically my camera went on the blink so sadly no more photos – suffice it to say a few people got splashed and very wet…

A pack of wet ‘doodles shaking off the water has that effect – a much needed cold shower you could say haha…

We decided to cut the walk short to give Millie a breather…

Of course we got lost going back (it’s a beautiful place peppered with lakes – canals and woodland paths)…

And unbelievably ended up walking further than all the others !!!



MILLIE’S “BOYFRIEND” RALPH


Millie managed admirably – but boy was she ready for a big cold drink !!!

We went home pleasantly tired and very very happy…

Millie however slept the sleep of the just – we could hear her contented snores through the night!!!

THREE WEEKS TO GO UNTIL MILLIE GIVES BIRTH TO GOLDENDOODLE PUPPIES!!!


Just a quick update on Millie the Goldendoodle’s pregnancy…

We have received tons of enquiries for one of her puppies…

And I have spoken to everyone so far…

It’s been a pleasure to meet so many lovely kind real “dog people” lol…

And so far everyone has the most perfect loving home to offer…

So a big thank you from me and a loving lick from Millie…

Those of you who have now met her know she really does love to lick you haha…

She has always been a loving gentle cuddly dog…

She is what we call a “floopy little girl” haha…

As in soft – gentle – loving and very much in cuddles…

Being in pup has made it more so – and I have to say I love cuddling her…

That’s the beauty of the Goldendoodle breed…

They are mad as hatters and nuts to play with…

They love long walks – free runs and playing…



GOLDENDOODLES LOVE EXERCISE!!! (taken moments after mating Millie the Goldendoodle)

However they’re just as happy lying on their backs snoring…



MILLIE THE GOLDENDOODLE SNORING


A proper mix of boundless energy and couch potato haha…

Millie the Goldendoodle is now a little over three weeks away for giving birth to her litter…

To say I’m nervous and excited is an understatement…

We’ve decided on the dining room as the “nursery”…

It’s warm and quiet and plenty of space…

I have got a whelping kit – complete with stethoscope lol…

Plenty of newspapers – absorbent puppy pads and blankets…

Millie is in great health and everything looks good for the big day…

The vet would not tell us how many pups she was expecting…

But the list of people wanting one of Millie’s puppies is growing…

Part of me feels awful for those at the end of the queue…

But Mother Nature will decide how many Goldendoodle puppies Millie has…

And there’s not much more I can do about that haha…

Thanks again to all who have contacted me – it really has been a pleasure getting to know you…

And I truly hope you are one of the lucky ones…:)

SO MANY TOYS FOR A GOLDENDOODLE TO PLAY WITH BUT OH SO TIRING

But we mums know only too well just how tiring pregnancy can be lol…

We have began increasing her food a little…

However the little minx will not eat her kibble…

This is worrying as she needs the nutrients…

However my partner had a brainwave – not that he has many haha…

Millie absolutely adores tripe sticks – uggh the smell…

So he actually grated tripe stick shavings into her kibble!!!

She of course wolfed them down haha…

OK that’ll do for now – I’m off to give Millie a shower and blow dry…

MILLIE the Goldendoodle is pregnant!!!!

Yes our little Goldendoodle girl had her scan yesterday at the vets…

She’s healthy – the pups are healthy and we’re ecstatic…

Millie has decided that now she’s “with child”…

SEEMS LIKE ONLY YESTERDAY OUR GOLDENDOODLE WAS A PUPPY!!!


She’s taking to her – make that our lol – bed at every opportunity…



BEING A PREGNANT GOLDENDOODLE IS SO VERY TIRING


She’s absolutely worn out bless her…

She just about manages to wander around the field – rather than charge around it like a loon…

And like all pregnant women – she has her “craving…”

In our case it seems to be iPod leads ha ha…

OK to the business…

I just thought you’d be interested in the breeding saga!!!

OK – we headed up to Hull and to Gundogs UK (where we got Millie)…

We were delighted to finally meet Millie’s mom…

Man she is an absolutely gorgeous Golden Retriever called Bess…

So loving gentle and very pleased to see her daughter!!!

OK we met Cracker aka Isaac the Babe – the Standard Poodle at stud…

He is a superb boy and had just been clipped…



CRACKER STANDARD POODLE AT GUN DOGS UK


So at first we thought he was a lamb on springs…

He just bounced and bounced and er bounced!!!

It had been a long long drive from the Midlands to Yorkshire…

So Millie was more than a little grumpy…

Cracker adored her and it was love at first sight!!!

However Millie was having none of it lol…

In fact every time Cracker tried to woo her…

She growled – barked at him and tried to jump out of the stable lol…

To be honest she barked more in the first few minutes than she has since we had her!!!

Strong willed woman or what ha ha…

Poor old Cracker couldn’t get a look in…

After an hour we decided to take her to our friends house in Boston (where we were staying)…

Special thanks to Gary Sue and of course Rosa the Boxer – for letting us invade!!!

Cracker was to say the least left wanting lol…

The following day we made the 80 mile trip and this time left them alone…

After the initial “playing hard to get ” we left the young lovers alone…

One nervous coffee later we went back…

Success!!! Cracker looked smug and more than a little pleased with himself…

Millie however had a look of “is that it..?” hee hee…

That afternoon we took her to a deserted beach in Lincolnshire…

She absolutely loved it ran herself silly and splashed in the sea…

On the way home the following day we popped in “for one last go” lol…

This time Millie was “more than up for mating…”

However Cracker sat in the corner licking his man bits…

“He’s never done that before…” said the breeder…

Millie was more than a little miffed!!!

So there we have it…



PREGNANCY IN GOLDENDOODLES CAN BE OH SO TIRING!!!


Millie the Goldendoodle is expecting a litter of puppies…

And we are expecting a lot of interest…

They will be due around June 8th…

And ready to go home with you the first week of August…

TIME FOR A TRIP TO THE HAIRDRESSERS!!!

Exciting news!!!

We’ve decided to breed our Goldendoodle Millie!!!

After a lot of thought and research we thought now is a good time as any…

It’ll mean she’ll be giving birth around June…

With her pups ready to go to new homes in early August!!!

And it really has been an interesting time…

We have had to have our Goldendoodle hip and eye scored…

That in itself was a real cause for concern – as we didn’t want to put her through any discomfort…

We shouldn’t have worried – she was an absolute star!!!

She melted the hearts of the vets during her eye check which she passed with flying colours…

And despite the need for general anaesthetic for the hip score…

She was none the worse for wear and showed no discomfort whatsoever…

So much so that a matter of days later she was boogying with the other ‘doodles at the Midlands meet…

As you can see a great time was had by all…

Millie’s great friend Biddy was there with Paddy and Lynn…

It was great to meet Kin and her lab Rosie and gorgeous ‘doodle Poppa…

And it was absolutely wonderful to meet Millie’s half sister Masie…

She brought along her dad her mum Jackie and delicious cakes made by Verity!!!

Masie and Millie share the same mom but different dad’s…

Despite her age she did her best to keep up with the older dogs…

By all accounts she slept like a log when she got home haha…

One of the funniest moments came when we all turned a corner to see a man with his ‘doodle!!!

He was certainly surprised to see us all but happily joined in on the walk…

I think that will be our last meet up for a while…

If Millie’s expecting puppies we can’t have her charging around like a loon!!!

And so this Easter weekend we’re piling into the car…

And taking Millie home to see her mom at Gun Dogs UK…

And of course to meet her stud dog Cracker…

Now isn’t he a handsome boy…

We’ve been told his bitches can have up to 12 puppies…

I can’t wait for the chaos to begin haha…

So there you have it…

Our once little Goldendoodle puppy bundle of fluff…

Is going to be a mom!!!

We can hardly believe how quickly time has flown…

And how wonderfully Millie the Goldendoodle has grown…

But of course before any girl meets her mate…

She needs a trip to the beauty parlour…

And last weekend Millie had her very own spa day…

We thought she looked amazing…

The groomer told us she took heaps off her coat…

And this time – thankfully – she didn’t get the bowl fringe haha…

Millie however wasn’t at all impressed…



BUT I LIKED MY HAIR OVER MY EYES!!!

What an absolutely amazing weekend we had recently at the DoodleMania Welsh meeting…

It was a camping meet up for owners of all things ‘Doodle and we had to take Millie…

Last summer we spent most weekends camping…

The arrival of Millie and moving to the new house meant we missed it dreadfully…

Plus we were a little concerned how our little princess would take to it…

We needn’t have worried at all…

She absolutely loved it!!!

Probably more because of the arrival of hunky Doodle Ralph in the next tent…

He’s an absolute honey and it was most definitely luuurve at first sight!!!



MILLIE AND RALPH BECAME INSEPARABLE

He really is a credit to his mum Tracy…

So placid so gentle and very very cool…

He swept our Millie off her feet and I have to say she’s been pining for him dreadfully!!!

So much so the folks on the awesome DoodleMania forum are planning an on line wedding!!!

Haha how very sweet – if a little crazy – haha…

We had an absolute blast over the weekend and met too many people to mention…

The biggest laugh for us came when we took Millie to the bar-b-q and she spotted her great friend Biddy…

Biddy lives with her mum and dad near us and the pair often go for walks together…

When they clapped eyes on each other it was a classic cartoon double take – then fun and frolics!!!
