How To Groom A Goldendoodle!!!

THERE’S A TIME WHEN ALL GIRLS NEED THE HAIRDRESSERS
How to groom a Goldendoodle…
Or more’s the point when should you or even should you…
As the summer arrived little Millie was hidden behind a floppy – albeit trendy – fringe…
There were times she was mistaken for an industrial mop such was the shagginess…
We tried the hair bun but it would never stay in…
We even tried the David Beckham Goldendoodle hair band…
I’M NOT GOING OUT WITH THAT THING ON I LOOK STUPID
But as the days got hotter she became more and more uncomfortable…
Seeking refuge in any shade in the garden…

A GOLDENDOODLE IN THE BUSH IS WORTH ONE IN THE HAND
And so we called the dog groomer…
“Ummmm…” she said…
“Never done a Goldendoodle before – make sure she’s tangle free else I shall have to shave her…”
We all shuddered – we love Millie’s mad crazy Goldendoodle curls and fluff…
Now tangle free sounds fair enough – however Millie had tangles on tangles inside an enigma of tangles…
And so I popped her in the shower with me and conditioned to my hearts content…
As there was a glimmer of sunshine – and she hates hairdryers – I let nature take its course…

WAKE ME WHEN YOU’VE FINISHED MY BLOW DRY AND SET MUM
She’s so big now the only way to comb and brush her through is literally on my lap…
As you can see she’s pretty good with the whole thing…
Mostly…
We even managed to snip a bit off her fringe – and boy did she need it!!!

A BIT OFF THE FRONT AND LEAVE THE BACK PLEASE BARBER
The day of the grooming arrived…
Millie apparently took it all in her stride whilst I waited outside a nervous wreck…
I prayed I had got every single knot and tangle out…
I really didn’t want a bald Goldendoodle!!!
And so it was with some relief I saw her…
Nails clipped – jacuzzi – bubble bath and 2 inch clip all over…
“She needs a firm hand with a hair dyer…” barked the groomer ” don’t take any nonsense…”
I smiled and thanked her…
I’ll show you the photos next time…
Until then…
Let’s just say I wonder which bowl the groomer used to cut around her fringe!!!

Hi,
We have just had Daisy from the same breeder – and your blog has been fantastic! We’ve been watching since before we collected our puppy and have loved seeing Millie grow. Daisy is very similar (there’s a surprise – being a golden doodle too!!) and we were amazed at your last post as Mille looks enormous! Daisy is 9 weeks old and we can’t imagine her being that size!! We too are having the nibbly trouble at bedtime, but we also have Buzz the tabby kitten (collected on the same day as Daisy – crazy? yes, but the only way!!) so together it’s mayhem until lights out! House training is going well, although when she’s having a mad 5 minutes with Buzz we have to be quick or there’s a tiny accident to deal with! Looking forward to the trim pix,
Vicky and Daisy xx
